Discovering Your Child's Strengths
Practical ways to identify what your child is naturally good at.
Often, we tell parents: "Understand your child's strengths." But what does that actually look like in practice? How do you observe strengths in daily life?
Here are actionable ways parents can identify natural aptitudes:
1. Observe their Hobbies
When they play video games, do they focus on the story (Creative/Writing), the strategy (Analytical/Management), or the graphics (Design/Art)?
2. Notice Argument Styles
When they argue or debate with you, do they use emotional appeals (Empathy/Sales) or cold hard facts and logic (Law/Research/Engineering)?
3. Group Dynamics
In a group project, do they naturally take charge and assign roles (Leadership/Management), or do they prefer executing a specific task quietly (Specialist/Tech)?
4. Problem Solving
When something breaks in the house, do they try to take it apart to fix it (Mechanical/Engineering), or do they immediately research a solution online (Research/IT)?
A Real Example:
"Rahul loved drawing in his notebooks, but his parents wanted him to pursue Engineering because they worried about the salary of a traditional artist. By exploring Career Mosaic, they discovered UI/UX Design—a field that perfectly merged his love for visual art with the high demand of the tech industry. Today, he works as a Product Designer at a top tech firm, earning an engineer's salary doing what he loves."
